How You Can Enable The New YouTube Redesign Now!

Do you like this story?

So we recently talked about the new YouTube and their new social integration features, including Google+ and Facebook sharing, plus some cool content discovery features. We also mentioned how the design was in the testing phase with a select group of users and wouldn’t be available to the public for a few weeks. Well let’s be real, waiting’s for chumps. You want the new YouTube design nowYou’ve got it now!

YouTube Redesign - Social Sharing - Marketaire.com

Pop open Firefox or Chrome. This is a little trick that will work in either, forget Safari or Internet Explorer, we’re going next level. Navigate to YouTube. Next, open up the browser’s development tools by using the following command:

In Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + K (Win) | Cmd + Shift + K (Mac)

In Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + J (Win) | or Cmd + Alt + J (Mac)

Now you’ll see the little cursor where you can input some text. Copy the string below and paste it into the console:

document.cookie=”VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=ST1Ti53r4fU”;

Close the development tool box and either refresh YouTube or click the YouTube logo to head home. Boom! There’s the homepage for videos. If you have any favourited channels, check out your personal page and you’ll see a feed with videos from a particular channel! Very cool!

Hey, your quotes are not real quotes. Anyone pasting that directly into the console is going to get a syntax error unless they retype the quotes. That being said, thanks for the tip! This looks cool.

I think WordPress or the typography plugin changed the quotes in your `document.cookie` string: you might want to surround the command with pre and code tags.

  • Benedikt

Yup – it’s pretty cool! You have to physically retype it though…

    What about Opera?

I’m not all that familiar with the Developer Console within Opera, but head to it and this change should also apply!

Thank you for the quotes comment! This has been changed and can now be copied and pasted directly.

  • Trista Harris

Very cool! Thanks for sharing the secret code that unlocks New Youtube mystery. :)

They’re definitely putting more emphasis on individual accounts and promotion! One, they want quality videos, and two, by displaying videos that are more relevant to users and that are easier to “stumble upon”, they’ll generate more revenue.

It’ll be interesting to see when Google decides to add ads to Google+, or if Google+ will act as more of an extension into their other products, like YouTube.

well I attempted to have the new design but I was told it was an illegal character no worries thanks anyways

TIP: don’t copy and paste the string, you have to type it in manually, and scrap the semi-colon (;) at the end. Thanks Brett!

Not working for me. Wondering if Google have fixed this by now.
